The Commissioner's role includes promoting good practice by Scottish public authorities and providing the public with information about their rights.

Upcoming events

18 November 2025 - Holyrood 2025 FOI Conference
Celebrating the 20th anniversary of FoISA, this conference will bring together leading voices in FOI to reflect on the past two decades, explore recent developments in FOI policy and practice, and what the future might hold. The event offers delegates a valuable opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and engage in discussions through keynotes, panels, and interactive workshops.

1 December 2025 - Scottish Public Information Forum (SPIF) meeting
The next meeting of SPIF will take place online at 14:00. Further information on the meeting, which is open to all, will be published on the Campaign for FOI in Scotland’s website shortly.
