December 2025 - Read the Newsletter

Christmas has come early as our December edition is available now! In this months edition, the Commissioner talks about the upcoming FOI Awards 2026, set to come to Scotland in March for the very first time.

In the news we discuss the FOI Reform Bill, the Part 7 Network, the latest statistics from Scottish Public Authorities, what the festive period means for FOI, our reflection on the 20th Anniversary of FOI, and an exciting new role that has opened up at our office!

We also discuss the latest SIC decisions, including the use of 'excessive cost' for requests, confidentiality when releasing information into the public domain, and how the public interest test can influence confidential communications.

And as always, our list of upcoming events to watch out for... it's all in this Open Update from the Scottish Information Commissioner!
